The Story of Golden Pearl Tea
Golden Pearl Tea was born from a deep-rooted love of tea and a longing for home. Founded by Thanuj Bhanuka Herath, an immigrant from Sri Lanka who made his way to Quebec, Canada, the brand reflects a personal journey and a passion brewed over many years.
Growing up in Sri Lanka, Thanuj’s days were steeped in the rich aroma of Ceylon tea — a tradition, a comfort, and a cherished ritual. But when he moved to Canada, finding that perfect cup of Ceylon tea proved to be surprisingly difficult. Determined to share the unique flavor and health benefits of the tea he grew up with, he decided to bring a piece of his heritage to his new home — and thus, Golden Pearl Tea was born.
Why the name Golden Pearl Tea? It’s a tribute to his roots: Sri Lanka, often called “the pearl of the Indian Ocean,” and gold, a symbol of purity and value, much like the tea itself. The name blends cultural pride with a promise of quality.
What sets Golden Pearl Tea apart is its unwavering commitment to purity. Every tea blend is crafted using 100% organic Ceylon tea, celebrated not only for its naturally sweet taste and rich aroma but also for its lower caffeine content and high antioxidant levels. From leaf to cup, each sip supports wellness and a more sustainable planet — thanks to eco-friendly packaging and a promise of clean ingredients.
Golden Pearl Tea is more than just a beverage — it’s a mission. A mission to offer a healthier, tastier tea to humankind, while also giving back. With every box sold, 1% of the profits go directly to supporting the Cancer Hospital of Sri Lanka, contributing to a cause close to Thanuj’s heart.
This is just the beginning. As Golden Pearl Tea continues to grow, it remains rooted in its purpose: to brew connection, culture, and care into every cup.
